Taipei Children's Amusement Park

This guide to the Taipei Children's Amusement Park traces its original site, an amusement park built beside the old Taipei Zoo in 1937 under Japanese rule, which grew for nearly seventy years, survived the war and expanded when the zoo relocated in 1986. It follows the discovery in the 2000s of an archaeological site buried beneath the rides, on land the city also needed to protect the Keelung River's banks, and the decision to shut the whole park down rather than build over it.
