Kiosko Morisco

This guide to the Kiosko Morisco in Mexico City's Santa María la Ribera follows engineer José Ramón Ibarrola across the border to a Pittsburgh foundry, where Andrew Carnegie's mills cast his Moorish-style pavilion for a Mexican mining display abroad. It traces the structure's travels between world's fairs and its years at the Alameda Central hosting the national lottery, before President Porfirio Díaz cleared that ground for a monument to Benito Juárez. Workers took the kiosk apart panel by panel, and somewhere in the move its stained glass windows vanished for good.
