Kenya Railway Museum

This guide to the Kenya Railway Museum in Nairobi opens with a British official's verdict on the line laid before the city even existed, then follows Fred Jordan, who joined the Kenya-Uganda railway in 1927 when it was still called the Lunatic Express. Its construction had already cost thousands of lives to disease and accident, including lion attacks near Tsavo in 1898. Jordan stayed on the line for forty-four years, through the end of empire and into an independent Kenya.
