Mount Zion

A grave on Mount Zion's southern slope belongs to Oskar Schindler, the German factory owner and Nazi party member who used his enamelware and munitions plant to keep roughly 1,200 Jewish workers off the trains to Auschwitz. The guide follows his impoverished postwar years, a failed stint at chicken farming in Argentina, and his return to Germany, before tracing how his body came to rest here after his 1974 death. The slab carries a two-line inscription, one in Hebrew and one in German, and small stones left by visitors along its edge.
