This guide to the Under the Eagle pharmacy in Kraków's former ghetto centers on Tadeusz Pankiewicz, the Polish chemist who talked his way into keeping his shop open behind the ghetto walls raised in March 1941, and the three young pharmacists who stayed working alongside him. You'll hear what the drawers behind the counter really held, and how ordinary medicines and dyes were put to uses no prescription called for. It follows the pharmacy through the 1942 deportations that passed right through the square outside its door.
