Hallasan National Park

Hallasan National Park traces the volcano that built all of Jeju, from eruptions beginning some two million years ago to the crater lake and hundreds of smaller cones now capping its summit. The guide also follows the haenyeo, the island's free-diving women, whose whistling breath after each dive was added to UNESCO's intangible heritage list in 2016. In the nineteen sixties an estimated twenty-three thousand of them dove around the island without oxygen tanks.
