Pirelli Hangar Bicocca

This guide to Pirelli Hangar Bicocca traces the seven towering concrete works artist Anselm Kiefer built inside a former locomotive factory, cast from containers in his own French studio after Pirelli handed him the space in 2004. It follows Kiefer's title for them, the Seven Heavenly Palaces, and the materials he packed inside, lead, broken glass and ash, wrapped in bands stamped with numbers. Look down at the steel rails still bolted into the concrete floor, once used to test locomotives built on this very site.
