PAC Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea

This guide to the PAC contemporary art pavilion in Milan traces the night of July 27, 1993, when a car bomb planted by the Sicilian mafia detonated outside its walls, part of a summer of attacks that also struck Rome's churches. Five people died, including three firefighters and a man asleep on a nearby bench. The guide follows architect Ignazio Gardella, who had designed this building in 1948 to replace a villa flattened by wartime bombing.
