Sisodia Rani ka Bagh

This guide to the royal garden outside Jaipur opens with a marriage alliance in 1728, when Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II wed a Sisodia princess of Udaipur on condition her son would inherit the throne, and built her this Mughal-style pleasure garden as part of the bargain. It traces the charbagh's water channels and the frescoes of Krishna and Radha painted across its pavilions, then turns to what happened after Jai Singh's death, when that promise to her son was contested. The stairways linking its three terraces are hidden inside the walls, invisible from outside.
