Kanak Vrindavan Mahal

This guide to Kanak Vrindavan Mahal in Jaipur begins in 1669, when Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's order to destroy Hindu temples forced the sacred idol of Govind Devji out of Vrindavan and into decades of hiding. It follows Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, founder of Jaipur, to 1713, when he built this valley garden below Nahargarh's cliffs as a home for the wandering deity and named it partly for his queen Kanakde.
