Santorini Brewing Company

This guide to Santorini Brewing Company follows four strangers, a Serbian brewer, an American, a Greek oenologist and an Englishman, who opened the island's first brewery in Mesa Gonia in January 2012, betting on beer on an island that had only ever made wine. It traces how they found their mascot on the cliff path outside their door, in the donkeys that had hauled goods and travelers up from the port for generations, and named their beers after it, from Yellow Donkey to Crazy Donkey. Look for the steel tanks in the tasting room, still filled the same way today.
