Bembo fountain

This guide to the Bembo fountain in Heraklion tells how a Roman burial sarcophagus became a Renaissance city fountain, hauled here by Venetian captain Gianmatteo Bembo in the 1550s to bring the island's first aqueduct water into the walled city then called Candia.
