Musée Grobet-Labadié de la Ville de Marseille

This guide to the Musée Grobet-Labadié in Marseille follows Marie Grobet, who grew up in this mansion her father built in 1873, through two marriages, the second to the painter and musician Louis Grobet. Together they spent decades crossing Europe filling the house with tapestries, faience, Delftware and paintings that never matched but always mattered to them. Marie kept collecting until Louis died in 1917, after which she stopped traveling and started deciding what would happen to the house.
