Basílica Virgen de las Angustias

This guide to the Basílica Virgen de las Angustias in Granada opens with a father and son, sculptors Bernardo de Mora and his young son José, chiseling the church's grieving Virgin high above the door around 1665. It follows Bernardo's carved stone doorway below, the builder Juan Luis Ortega who finished the church itself in 1671, and the wood-carver Pedro Duque Cornejo, who filled the interior with twelve lifelike apostles. José was barely into his twenties and still learning his father's trade when he put his hands to this, one of his first major commissions.
