Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món (Seu Montcada)

This guide to the Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món at Seu Montcada in Barcelona opens at a Paris auction house in March 2013, where a private collection was being sold off. It backs up to the Gothic townhouse itself, Casa Nadal, begun in the thirteen hundreds and merged from two houses by the merchant Jeroni Nadal in 1637, and to Swiss collector Jean-Paul Barbier-Mueller, who filled its rooms with pre-Columbian masks and figurines starting in 1997. He argued, controversially, that collectors like him had rescued such objects rather than stolen them, and he fought against ever sending pieces back.
