SEEHAUS im Englischen Garten

The guide to Munich's Seehaus traces this lakeside beer garden back to a modest stand run by park warden Josef Tax in the early 1800s, through Gabriel von Seidl's 1882 building on the Kleinhesseloher See, to the wooden hall architect Rudolf Esterer raised in 1935. It follows a decade after the Second World War when American occupation forces turned the spot into a soldiers' club, locked off from the Munich locals who once gathered there.
