St. Jost Church

This guide to St. Jost Church in Cesky Krumlov opens with an odd detail: for a stretch in 1938, the building sold motorcycles. It traces the church back to before 1317, founded by Peter I of Rosenberg in thanks for his son Jost's birth, and to the hospital beside it that treated Krumlov's sick and poor for nearly six hundred years. In 1596, Peter Vok of Rosenberg, the last of his line, hired the architect Domenico Cometta to rebuild it in an odd, asymmetrical Renaissance shape.
