Stone tablet marking where an underground labor movement began inside a wartime cotton mill.
This guide to the Dahua Textile Factory memorial in Xi'an opens in the spring of 1938, when a disguised organizer named Wang Ruowang worked the gates of the city's largest cotton mill under cover of a ragpicker's basket. It follows the underground cells that grew out of his exchanges with workers Zhang Rong, Zhang Zhixue and Bai Guirong, and the mill's role supplying military cloth while Japanese bombers struck it three times. Stand by the workshop wall where the stone tablet marks the spot that quiet exchange once passed hand to hand.
