Girl in Wetsuit

This guide to the Girl in Wetsuit sculpture on Vancouver's seawall follows a 1972 request from a local lawyer, asking sculptor Elek Imredy to give the city its own version of Copenhagen's Little Mermaid, and the diver he built instead, modeled on his friend Debra Harrington. When she was unveiled that June, some visitors muttered that Imredy had copied the Danish statue after all, and he denied it every time. Stand at the seawall rail to see her rock from the same angle the harbor does.
