Mozart Residence

This guide to the Mozart Residence in Salzburg follows the family's move into an eight-room apartment above a dance school in 1773, when seventeen-year-old Wolfgang was already Europe's most talked-about prodigy and Leopold finally had room for the parties his patrons expected. It turns to Anna Maria Mozart's departure for Paris five years later and her death there, and to the family portrait Leopold commissioned afterward, in which she appears only as a small painted picture on the wall behind her husband and children.
