Tân Định Market

This guide to Tan Dinh Market traces the building back to 1931, when French colonial officials were so proud of it they built a miniature for the Paris Colonial Exposition, and further back to the 1870s trading post it replaced. It follows the 1926 decision to tear that older market down and raise a bold open hall on reinforced concrete pillars, engineered with no interior walls, a radical design for its time.
