Hippie Hill

This guide to Hippie Hill in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park opens on the evening of August 7, 1967, when a slim young Englishman in sunglasses climbed the hill and asked a stranger playing guitar if he could borrow it. He was George Harrison, in town with his wife Pattie to see the Summer of Love in full bloom, and at first the twenty or so hippies scattered on the grass had no idea who he was. It follows what a drum circle that has gathered here nearly every weekend since still owes to that evening.
