Coral Castle

This guide to Coral Castle in Homestead follows Edward Leedskalnin, a Latvian stonemason barely five feet tall, who by his own account was jilted by a sixteen-year-old fiancee back in Latvia before drifting through logging camps and washing up in South Florida. It traces how, starting around 1923, he began quarrying local limestone alone at night with homemade tools, refusing to let anyone watch, and later moved the entire site ten miles north by himself. Look for the three stone chairs he carved inside, each one different.
