Trinity Church

This guide to Trinity Church in Boston starts in 1874, when an engineer stopped construction cold: Henry Hobson Richardson's tower was too heavy for the filled tidal marsh beneath Copley Square. The design was reworked by a young draftsman named Stanford White, who borrowed from a photograph the painter John La Farge had mailed from Spain, of the old cathedral at Salamanca.
