All Saints Way

This guide follows Peter Baldassari, who as a boy in the 1940s began collecting holy cards and by 1992 was nailing them to the brick of a trash-strewn alley off Hanover and Battery Streets in Boston's North End. You'll hear how it grew over three decades into hundreds of saint images with no roof over them, exposed to harbor wind and New England weather, and what happened in 2024 when a stroke took Baldassari out of the alley he had built. A volunteer effort led by Gary Rizzuto then stepped in to clear it out.
