Taipei Tea Promotion Center

This guide to the Taipei Tea Promotion Center traces two kinsmen: Zhang Nai-miao, who tasted tieguanyin tea in Fujian's Anxi region in 1895 and planted cuttings on the hillside now called Maokong, and his relative Zhang Naiqian, who died in 1919 while bringing hundreds more seedlings back across the strait. You'll hear how Nai-miao became Muzha's tea master under Japanese rule, training local farmers and winning the governor's gold prize for baozhong tea. It follows those same hills, still growing descendants of his cuttings behind the museum today.
