Hushan Hiking Trail

This guide to the Hushan Hiking Trail in Taipei starts in the 1940s, when Japanese bombs fell close enough to hear and workers carved a shelter straight into the rock of Tiger Mountain. It follows what became of that wartime cave, known today as Longshan Cave, long after the war ended, and an idea somebody had for putting it to unexpected use. You'll also hear about an old mineshaft higher up the mountain, dressed up for hikers, its steps tracing the route of a vanished cableway.
