Bishanyan Kaizhang Shengwang Temple

This guide to the Bishanyan Kaizhang Shengwang Temple traces a founding legend from Neihu, set in 1751, when bandits crept up Bishan Mountain toward a small shrine a Zhangzhou settler had left behind decades earlier. It follows the settler's amulet, the neighbors who tended it, and the moment locals say the mountain itself intervened. A real temple eventually replaced the roadside shrine in 1861, and the platform today looks out over the whole Taipei Basin.
