Rahmi M. Koç Museum

This guide to the Rahmi M. Koç Museum in Istanbul traces the Golden Horn foundry building from its use forging anchor chains for Ottoman warships under Sultan Ahmed the Third, through a 1984 fire, to Rahmi M. Koç, son of Turkey's biggest industrialist, who came home from Michigan's Henry Ford Museum with an idea of his own. It follows what he built here after restoring the ruin in 1994: more than fourteen thousand objects spanning road, rail, sea and sky, from steam engines to a B-24 Liberator bomber. Head down to the quay, where a real naval submarine waits for you to duck through its narrow hatches.
