Monkey Bay

This guide to Monkey Bay on Phi Phi Don opens on December 26, 2004, and the sound of macaques calling from the cliffs above a cove that the tsunami left standing. It reaches back to an older story sailors told about this same hideout, a pirate lookout tucked behind limestone walls where a boat could watch the whole channel unseen, and traces how the troop of long-tailed macaques came to take the cove and its name.
