Yusupov Palace

This guide to the Yusupov Palace in Saint Petersburg turns on one December night in 1916, when Prince Felix Yusupov led Grigori Rasputin down into this cellar with the promise of meeting his wife, who was in fact hundreds of miles away. Two fellow conspirators, Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich and Vladimir Purishkevich, waited elsewhere in the palace that night. Decades later, an autopsy report suggested a very different version of events than the one Yusupov told in his memoirs.
