Armoury Chamber

This guide to the Armoury Chamber in Moscow's Kremlin opens in 1682, when two boy tsars, ten-year-old Ivan and nine-year-old Peter, were crowned together, and silversmiths built them a double throne to seat them side by side. It follows their half-sister Sophia, barred by custom from ruling in her own name, and a small window cut into the throne's silver back where she could feed the boys their lines. Look for the seam in the silverwork as you pass, alongside the coronation gowns, Faberge eggs and the cap of Monomakh nearby.
