Bin Jelmood House - Msheireb Museums

Bin Jelmood House in Doha is a former slave trader's courtyard home, now the Arab world's first museum devoted to slavery, historic and modern. The guide traces the two trades that ran side by side in old Doha, people and pearls, and the grueling, injury-prone work of pearl divers. Inside, first-person animated films and recorded interviews cross paths, including the ancestry of the actress and singer Fatima Shaddad. Museum director Hafiz Ali Ali narrates part of it himself, from the same courtyard the house once held in chains.
