Pyramid of the Sun

This guide to the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan starts with an offering buried in the ground around the year fifty of the common era, long before the pyramid itself existed: a carved green stone mask, clay pots dedicated to a rain god, animal bones, and several graves, found by archaeologists in twenty eighteen. It then leads you beneath the western staircase, into a natural lava-tube cave the Teotihuacanos treated as sacred ground, with altars once set inside it. Look for the western staircase behind the pyramid's face to find the cave's entrance.
