Villa of Arts

This guide to the Villa of Arts in Casablanca traces a white Art Deco house built in nineteen thirty-four by architect Diego Jimenez for the Toledano family, who filled its garden with jasmine and named it Les Jasmines. It follows the house after the family moved out in nineteen seventy-four, as it changed hands, lost its name to a shrugging Villa Roudani, and slid toward the cracked marble and dust of the nineteen nineties. Look up at the staircase under its glass roof, the same one the Toledano family once climbed.
