Boulevard Mohammed V

This guide to Boulevard Mohammed V in Casablanca centers on the Lincoln Hotel, opened by French architect Hubert Bride two years before the boulevard's first paving stones went down in nineteen eighteen, and once a stop for shipping agents off the new port's boats. It follows the hotel through wartime, when American intelligence officers reportedly worked out of its lobby amid a city full of refugees, and through its closure in nineteen eighty-nine. From there it widens to the boulevard itself, where preservation group Casamemoire counts thousands of buildings across the city facing the same fate as the Lincoln's facade.
