Seoul City Wall Trail

This guide to the Seoul City Wall Trail traces two acts of erasure: the 2016 morning someone painted over the hillside village's famous flower mural, and the centuries-old practice of carving quarry and mason names into blocks of the fourteenth-century wall. It follows the 2006 mural project that drew crowds to a neighborhood of Korean War refugee homes, and the residents who later pushed back against the attention. Look closely at the stones beside the path for the names left by the masons who built them.
