Yongnuni Oreum

This guide to Yongnuni Oreum in Jeju follows photographer Kim Young-gap, who moved to the island in 1985 and spent two decades photographing almost nothing else, and the disease that later took his voice, then his legs, then his hands. It traces why this one horseshoe-shaped cone, folded from three fused craters, kept pulling him back near the end of his life, and the abandoned elementary school he turned into a gallery for pictures he never titled.
