Angkor Wat

This guide to Angkor Wat in Siem Reap opens at a wall where the count of carved gods and demons has never fully settled, including a tally once logged by conservator Maurice Glaize. It follows the temple's largest relief, the churning of the ocean of milk, tracing nearly fifty metres of gods and demons hauling on the serpent Vasuki while the god Vishnu anchors the center. The guide also traces the reign of King Suryavarman the Second, who commissioned the temple around the mid-1100s. Look closely near the northeast corner for where the carving itself starts to change.
