Yurigahara Park

This guide to Yurigahara Park in Sapporo follows the Lily Train, built in 1986 for the city's Flower and Green Expo out of rails and sleepers salvaged from the old Japan National Railways. It traces the diesel engine's slow loop past a hundred lily varieties, and the community painters who restored all five worn cars by hand in 2018, leaving them in the soft cream you see today.
