Ohori Park Japanese Garden

This guide to Ohori Park's Japanese Garden in Fukuoka traces the ground beneath it back four hundred years, when this was open water in Kusagae Inlet before Lord Kuroda Nagamasa walled it into his castle moat. It follows the moat's transformation into a public park in 1929 and then, in 1984, into a landscape garden designed by Kinsaku Nakane, packed with an artificial mountain range, a waterfall and a winding stream across a small plot.
