Church of San Domenico Maggiore

This guide to the Church of San Domenico Maggiore in Naples follows Giordano Bruno from his arrival as a restless teenage novice in the 1560s, when he stripped his cell of saints' images and began reading books the Dominican order had banned. It traces his path through vows taken in 1565 and ordination in 1572, in halls where Thomas Aquinas had taught theology centuries earlier, a crucifix on the wall said to have once spoken to him. Bruno inherited that same certainty and used it to reach very different conclusions.
