Pererenan Beach

This guide to Pererenan Beach in Bali starts with its noisy neighbor Canggu, born from a 1990 surf contest into more than three hundred hotels within three decades. Pererenan, just up the coast, has stayed dark by comparison, its black sand carried down from Mount Agung's eruptions past rice fields and family temples. Sea turtles nesting along this coast are known to favor the dimmer, quieter shores. Best walked barefoot at dusk, when the sand is coolest underfoot.
