Rue Juiverie

This guide to rue Juiverie follows Catherine de Medici, queen of France, slipping down this Renaissance merchants' street in the 1550s to consult the astrologer Nostradamus about her sons' futures. It also detours into the courtyard of the Hôtel Bullioud, where a young architect named Philibert de l'Orme built a gallery resting on stone squinches before going on to become royal architect to Catherine's own husband. Look up at the stone facades that replaced Lyon's old livestock market around 1490.
