Museo Picasso Málaga

This guide to Museo Picasso Málaga follows a promise that took decades to keep. In 1953, local historian Juan Temboury wrote to Pablo Picasso proposing a museum of his work in his hometown, and Picasso liked the idea, then nothing happened before he died in 1973 without ever returning to Málaga. It picks the story back up in the early 1990s, when his daughter-in-law Christine Ruiz-Picasso visited the city and revived his abandoned plan, going on to donate works alongside her son Bernard. The museum itself sits inside the sixteenth-century Palacio de Buenavista, its basement floor cut through with much older layers of the city.
