Workers Museum

This guide to the Workers Museum in Copenhagen opens on a night in May 1872, when police arrested three leaders of Denmark's young socialist movement before dawn to keep them from a rally they had called at Faelleden in support of striking masons. It follows what happened when thousands of workers showed up anyway to face hussars and police with drawn sabers, and what became of Louis Pio, Harald Brix, and Povl Geleff after their trial. Best heard standing in the ballroom, looking up at the carved and painted beams around you.
