Church of Holmen

This guide to the Church of Holmen in Copenhagen follows Peter Tordenskjold, Denmark's boldest naval admiral, who was killed in an illegal duel near Hanover in 1720 and brought home to a burial almost nobody spoke about. It traces why the crown had reasons to want him forgotten, and the long wait his sarcophagus endured inside a church built from an old royal anchor forge. A votive ship still hangs from the ceiling, and a cannonball from a Swedish bombardment remains lodged in the choir wall.
