Monopteros im Englischen Garten

This guide to the Monopteros in Munich's English Garden traces a king's ambition to make the city feel like ancient Greece, from Ludwig the First's order to pile leftover palace stone into an artificial hill through the temple built atop it in the eighteen thirties, designed by court architect Leo von Klenze in place of an older wooden shrine to Apollo.
