Lenbachhaus

This guide to the Lenbachhaus in Munich follows painter Gabriele Münter, once the artistic and romantic partner of Wassily Kandinsky and co-founder with him of the Blue Rider circle in 1911. After Kandinsky left her for Russia during the First World War, Münter kept his life's work, and her own, hidden through poverty and Nazi house searches targeting art the regime branded degenerate. The guide traces what she hid behind a false wall in her basement for two decades.
