Französischer Dom

This guide to the Französischer Dom in Berlin starts with an oddity: the ornamental tower and the plain Huguenot church beside it share a wall but have never shared a single service. It traces the French Protestant refugees who settled here after fleeing France in the early 1700s, and architect Carl von Gontard's 1780s tower, added purely for symmetry with a twin rising across the square. Look for the seam where the tower meets the older church wall beside it.
